It’s treated me like crap, let’s see how this one fares.

Let me fill you in on what I’ve been dealing with the past month or so.

I got kicked offline again due to my moniter and system hard drive both failing overnight. I suspected the moniter melted, and I thought the same for my system hard drive, but after I stuck the system hard drive into a static free bag and plugged it back in it started working again. Too bad it was a week after my brother decided that the router needed an update.

Now, my connection’s always been bad. Everyone that knows me can testify for that. My “regular” connection consisted of a pretty free connection, no block ports, and a measly 30 kb/s download rate and 10 kb/s upload rate. I got used to it, and decided it was decent enough to live off of.

Then my brother started getting extremely paranoid about viruses and thought that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM were already in my computer waiting to jump out and steal his personal info. So he decided to arbitrarily block every port between 3000 to 8000, spending nearly a month in paranoia, in an attempt to block the viruses from getting outside on the net. This of course destroys my internet capabilities, and I lose half my current works since I have no viable way of getting to them.

I get used to it again, my download and upload speed stay the same and I move onto other things. Then my moniter melted 3 weeks ago and I had to stop everything while I waited for a new moniter and hard drive to come in. But by the time I get everything set up, my brother has fucked up the router’s software beyond his abilities, failing to make a backup copy beforehand, and has had to rely on a techie to help him fix it. One that replies to his emails once every 2 days. And all for naught, since the program the techie had sent didn’t even work, so my brother just decides to set up a white list on ports.

What does this mean? Well, in short terms, it means my internet is now COMPLETELY fucked as now I can only websurf via port 80, and talk on AIM and MSN. Because my brother still doesn’t not completely understand what the hell he is doing with his router, I cannot access a single piece of work that I have been working on, and now it’s all lost to me again. I don’t even know how fast my connection is right now because I can’t even download anything to test it. My torrents are completely fucked, my games are completely fucked, and apparently the ventrilo is too.

Oh yeah, and while I’m asking my brother to get some ports on that stupid whitelist, he’s checking websites to see exactly what kind of viruses can go through those ports. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.

And late a Happy Thanksgiving to you all. I’m sure you guys spent your time better than I did.

So you may have noticed a lack of posts for over a month now. Part of it was due to laziness and writer’s block, but the rest was basically just that I was a bit too busy with a bunch of other stuff.

The title of this post refers to how suddenly cold it has become here in New York. As in, I went to bed sweating with the fan on, and when I woke up, it was suddenly 20 degrees cooler outside and my bones were rattling. I guess it’s autumn now.

In terms of games, Emil Chronicle Online finally came out for open beta in english. Well, two weeks ago anyway. And I’ve been playing it since it came out. Aside from some minor bugs and horrendous lag issues, it’s great.

In terms of anime, some of you may have heard my late night laughter, which is correspondant to the new anime I’ve got. They’re not particularly that new, but they’re stuff I’ve been meaning to watch. And here’s the list:

Sketchbook - I was originally going to write a separate post about this, but I couldn’t exactly find the words to fully describe it. It kind of touched with the time I spent as a sketch artist and exactly what I could’ve done to keep myself from losing motivation so much and ultimately giving up the hobby.

Wagaya no Oinari-sama - I remember originally planning on getting this when it started a few years back but didn’t see any of the common fansubs picking it up, so I left it alone. Watching it now, it felt all too short.

~H2O~ Footprints in the Sand - This one was confusing. It was kind of like a combination between Elfen Lied and…something else I can’t recall at the moment.

Seto no Hanayome - I haven’t actually finished watching this. I’ve had it for over a month and I can’t bring myself to watch it because of the sheer insanity of it.

Strike Witches - Didn’t know it was ecchi til I started watching it. You know how I noticed? When it shows you the panties of every main character before it shows their faces. Rushed ending too, but I don’t think the storyline was the main point.

Kamen no Maid Guy - Was also planning on watching this when it came out a few years back, but again, no common fansubs picked it up so I left it alone. This was what I was laughing about yesterday night. And I want to watch it all over again because it’s just that damned funny.

Back to life events, my cousin’s wedding was yesterday. It was great, and had a great atmosphere for people in their 20s. Though I might get in trouble when my cousin finds out I wrote her husband’s name wrong on the card…
